Comme un Diadème is not approved by Social Security.
This choice is deliberate. We have chosen to work independently so that we can freely select our raw materials and offer high-end, customizable toppers wigs designed to meet very high aesthetic standards.
Approval involves an administrative framework and specific standards that severely restrict the possibilities for creation and sourcing.
Our priority is to offer exceptional models, focused on comfort, refined bases, and a natural look.
However, some mutual insurance companies may offer partial reimbursement outside the Social Security framework: we invite you to check directly with your supplementary insurance provider.
Models from Comme un diadème
A wig is a complete prosthesis that covers the entire head, while a hair topper is a partial prosthesis that attaches to the top of the skull.
The hair of topper with the hair of the person wearing it, whereas with a wig, the person's hair is usually tucked underneath it (unless the hair is the same color).
Comme un diadème's toppers capillaries and wigs are made from natural Brazilian, European or Russian "Rémy" hair. The term "Rémy" means that the hair and cuticles of the strand are oriented in the same direction on the hair topper or wig.
Unlike non-Remy hair, which is loosely assembled on the prosthesis. It therefore tends to tangle and damage more easily.
Comme un diadème toppers and wigs are made from high-quality, soft, healthy, supple hair.
At Comme un diadème, you will find toppers and wigs in various lengths, ranging from short to long.
Models available in stock
The lengths offered on the website generally vary between 16" 16") and 20" 20"). However, 15" 15") or 65 cm (26") models are occasionally available.
Custom orders
Would you like a specific length that is not listed on the website? Custom orders are possible. We can create a tailor-made model for you, with options ranging from15" 14"/15") to 65 cm (26").
For shorter models
If you prefer a model that is even shorter than 14", we recommend choosing an existing model on the website and then having it adjusted by a professional hairdresser or, ideally, a hair prosthetist.

It is important to note that hair length can vary from person to person depending on their height and weight.
We offer toppers and wigs with a density of 130%. This density is considered standard among international brands and guarantees good coverage and a completely natural look.
Hair density is an important quality criterion for a hair topper or a wig. Comme un diadème is committed to offering models with sufficient density to last for many years.
We advise our customers not to buy low-density models because a topper or a wig loses hair with daily wear, and a good initial density is essential to guarantee the life of your hair topper or wig.
The hair is straight. Except when it is indicated in the product description and title that the model is naturally wavy or curly. Wavy or curly models retain the same texture after washing and over the years.
In most cases, the clips on toppers and wigs do not cause localized hair loss around the clips. However, every woman is different, and it can happen that when the traction is very strong and constant (for example, women who wear their style continuously, without any days off), some women notice hair loss around the clips. In this case, it is possible to use the sensitive grip system, available on the website.
Blog post about the sensitive grip:

It is also important not to tighten the clips too much at the base of the hairline to limit traction.
No, toppers or wigs do not suffocate the scalp and have no effect on hair loss.
Women with androgenetic alopecia lose their hair naturally and chronically, so it is normal for hair loss to progress over time (unfortunately), and this is not related to hair prostheses.
People who wear wigs on a daily basis for religious reasons (e.g., Jewish people) or women who wear headscarves do not lose their hair because of this.
Hair bulbs do not breathe outside air. All the elements they need are supplied by the bloodstream 😉
How to choose your model?
To choose the right prosthesis hair, it's important to understand the differences between a hair topper and a wig.
It is important to choose the basic size of the topper to the extent of your alopecia. It is preferable that the clips are not attached in the area of alopecia where the scalp may be quite sensitive. In addition, extensive alopecia will require greater coverage to compensate for the low initial density, particularly at the back of the head.
A woman with early alopecia, which is not yet really visible, can freely choose between a 7 x 7 and 8 x 8 base. The result with either base will be exactly the same.
In cases of more extensive hair loss, it is better to opt for an 8 x 8 base, which will provide the necessary coverage, particularly at the back of the head, to completely conceal your hair loss.
Regardless of the base size selected, the 18×18 and 20×20 cm bases are large bases that provide real coverage for your alopecia, a completely undetectable finish, and real comfort of use while guaranteeing a natural result.
The density of the hair will not be greater with an 8 x 8 model than with a 7 x 7 base.
Comme un diadème no longer offers small 15 x 15 cm bases on its website. This is because with a topper a base that is too small (15 x 15 cm), the hair on topper spread out at the back and reveal a slight difference in color/texture, or even the alopecia of the person wearing it. If you still want this type of base, you can place a custom order (non-returnable).
For very extensive alopecia, a 9 x 9 base may be considered, or a wig.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like advice on the basic size for your alopecia.

The use of a hair supplement
The lifespan of a topper depend in part on how well you care for it. The typical lifespan is between one and two years, but some customers have been able to keep them for up to four years without any problems ;). To increase the lifespan of your topper, don't wash it too frequently. You should also avoid overusing heated styling tools (especially straighteners and curling irons).
Your model will not be damaged if you do not wear it, provided you store it correctly.
We recommend placing it in its pouch and storing it in a drawer or other safe place. If you leave your model poorly stored, for example, rolled up, it may become creased and tangled. It is also important not to expose your model to sunlight, as this could damage it.
You can swim with a hair topper or a Comme un diadème wig.
However, we advise you not to put your head under water because chlorine, salts, etc. are not good for maintaining the quality of the hair and the color of the models.
It is not advisable to sleep with a hair topper or a wig.
With the movements we make at night, the model may become tangled and the friction of the hair against the sheets could damage it.
A quick nap?
You can take short naps with your model! You may fall asleep with it on, but this will not necessarily damage it more quickly.
It's perfectly possible to work out with a hair topper or a wig. Many Comme un diadème customers play sports with their models on a regular basis. For more violent sports (combat sports, jet-skiing, etc.), you need to be aware that if you put too much pressure on the model, it could move and become detectable, so we don't recommend wearing it for this type of sport.
Some women prefer to wear a headband, possibly with a hair bun, for greater comfort when playing sports.
Natural hair can be heated, straightened, and curled without any problems. However, as with your own hair, you should not overdo it so as not to damage the hair fiber.
Hair should not be washed too often (every 4 weeks is a good frequency). Use a classic sulfate-free shampoo in combination with conditioner and possibly a mask. It is important to avoid applying oily products such as shampoos, masks, etc. directly to the silk section and the knots at the back of the hair, as this can undo the knots.
Every four shampoos, you can apply Silicon Mix to restore your hair's original shine. If you have dry ends, we recommend regularly applying a little argan or coconut oil to the ends to moisturize the hair fiber.
Brazilian light brown to blonde hair models have generally undergone significant bleaching and coloring processes before reaching their final color. This hair has therefore been sensitized and may react unexpectedly to a conventional coloring or bleaching process. It is generally possible to darken a topper wig, but bleaching is not recommended as it could alter the quality of the hair. In any case, it is important to have the topper colored or bleached topper a professional colorist who is experienced in working with this type of product.
Models with dark brown Brazilian hair (Meghan, Eva, Katie, Leïla) and European hair can be styled at the hairdresser's without any problems because their cuticles are intact.

Wearing hair topper or a wig isn't itchy per se, it's like wearing a cap.
However, you may experience occasional itching, which is not necessarily caused by topper wig. If this happens, you can scratch discreetly through your hairpiece. It is perfectly possible to scratch your head, even with a hair prosthesis, without any particular discomfort.
In general, wearing a topper wig does not keep you particularly warm.
In winter, it can still be useful for women affected by alopecia, as it helps to keep their heads a little warmer.
However, during the summer, in regions where temperatures are high, you may feel hot. Wearing a hair this period can cause you to feel hot, as you are adding volume and a prosthesis to your head.
Solutions?
If you get too hot in summer with your topper wig, you can simply choose not to wear it and opt for a hair bun to create a beautiful, thick bun. Alternatively, you can still wear it by tying your hair back to better manage the heat.
Maintaining a hair supplement
The model should be brushed carefully before and after each use. It is convenient to place it on a wig head so that the hair does not become creased before the next use.

The cork wig head and its display stand are essential for easy drying and styling of the topper's hair.
